Con 25 candidaturas, ‘Shōgun’ encabeza las nominaciones de los premios que se entregarán el 15 de septiembre en El Capitan Theatre en Hollywood.

Este miércoles, la Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias de la Televisión reveló la lista completa de los nominados de la 76ª edición de los Premios Emmy, que celebra las producciones televisivas lanzadas entre junio de 2023 y mayo de este año (es decir que no veremos nominaciones para las nuevas temporadas de ‘House of the Dragon’ y ‘The Boys’ porque ambas se lanzaron en junio)

Los actores Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep) y Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary), junto con el presidente de la Academia Cris Abrego, fueron los encargados de develar los nombres incluidos en las categorías principales de los premios.

‘Shōgun’, el drama histórico basado en la novela homónima de James Clavell, lidera las nominaciones con 25 candidaturas incluyendo Mejor Serie Drama, Mejor Actor Drama (Hiroyuki Sanada), Mejor Actriz Drama (Anna Sawai) y Mejor Actor de Reparto Drama (Tadanobu Asano y Takehiro Hira). La serie, cuyo principal idioma es el japonés, se convierte en la segunda producción de lengua no inglesa en ser nominada a los Emmys, siendo la primera ‘Squid Game’ que es coreana.

Sin embargo, la serie de FX no es la única producción de la filial de The Walt Disney Company en recibir nominaciones. La segunda temporada de ‘The Bear’ bate el récord de mayor número de nominaciones para una Serie Comedia, en la historia de los Premios, tras recibir 23 candidaturas este año, superando a ’30 Rock’ que en 2009 logró 22 nominaciones.

Vale la pena destacar que mientras Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce y Liza Colón-Zayas se encuentran nominados en categorías actorales, ‘Fishes’, el sexto capítulo de la temporada, recibió nueve candidaturas convirtiéndose en uno de los episodios con más nominaciones en los Emmys.

Siguiendo a las dos series de FX, ‘Only Murders In The Building’ (Hulu/Disney+) y ‘True Detective: Night Country’ (HBO/Max) lograron 21 y 19 nominaciones, respectivamente; mientras que la temporada final de ‘The Crown’ (Netflix) consiguió 18 y ‘Saturday Night Live’ (NBC), 17. ‘Fallout’ y ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’, ambas producciones de Prime Video, ‘Hacks’ de Max y ‘The Morning Show’ de Apple TV+ recibieron 16 candidaturas, cada una. Por su parte, ‘Fargo’ (FX) obtuvo 15 nominaciones y ‘Ripley’ (Netflix), 13.

Si bien no se anunció durante la transmisión en vivo, ‘X-Men ’97’ obtuvo una nominación a los Premios como Mejor Serie Animada y competirá por la estatuilla junto con ‘Blue Eye Samurai’, ‘Bob’s Burgers’, ‘Scavengers Reign’ y ‘The Simpsons’.

Entre otras sorpresas, mientras dos ganadores de la más reciente edición de los Oscars, Robert Downey, Jr. y Da’Vine Joy Randolph, obtuvieron nominaciones al Emmy por sus actuaciones en ‘The Sympathizer’ y ‘Only Murders in the Building’, respectivamente; Ryan Gosling logró su primera nominación a los Premios por ser anfitrión de ‘Saturday Night Live’ y Selena Gomez recibió (finalmente!!) su primer reconocimiento como Mejor Actriz en una Serie Comedia por ‘Only Murders…’. Hasta el momento, había estado nominada solo como productora de la serie.

De igual manera, este año se hizo historia en varias categorías de los Emmys. Mientras que la mexicana Nava Mau es la primera mujer transgénero en ser reconocida en la categoría de Actriz de Reparto en una Serie Limitada o de Antología por su trabajo en ‘Baby Reindeer’; Lily Gladstone y Kali Reis se convierten en las primeras mujeres indígenas en recibir esta distinción, tras sus nominaciones en la misma categoría, por sus papeles en ‘Under the Bridge’ y ‘True Detective: Night Country’.

D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai compite como Mejor Actor Comedia por ‘Reservation Dogs’, siendo ésta la primera nominación, en una categoría principal, para un actor indígena en la historia de los Emmy. Hasta el momento, el único nativo americano nominado como actor había sido August Schellenberg, quien en 2007 fue reconocido por la Academia por su interpretar a Sitting Bull en la película para televisión ‘Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee’.

Por su parte, la colombiana Sofia Vergara se convierte en la primera latina en ser nominada a Mejor Actriz en una Serie Limitada o de Antología por ‘Griselda’.
